This amazing sail takes us into Phang Nga Bay; the wide bay between Phuket and Krabi, Thailand. The Bay is filled with islands, some that rise vertically out of the water. The larger of these have hollow interiors and are called ‘Hong’ which in Thai means ‘room’. Villages and beaches dot the larger islands.
While most have interesting names: Yao Yai, Rai Leh, Ko Hong, Phi Phi, a few are called by the obvious – like Chicken Head!
With its many islands and the coasts of Krabi and Phuket, Phang Nga Bay has many stops to choose from for overnight stays and midday lunch and swimming. Although always weather and safety dependent, we discuss the proposed itinerary before we start and as we go, modifying if we need to … or changing our minds to see one more beautiful beach before sailing back to our home base!
