Offshore Passage-Making

Experience the Sail of a Lifetime

Join our long distance sail from La Rochelle, France to Procida, Italy.

You can ‘go the distance’ or take one-half of the voyage. We will start late Oct out of La Rochelle, France with the first planned stop at either Cadiz or Gibraltar. The second half is Cadiz / Gibraltar to Procida, Italy (Bay of Naples). Each half is approximately 1000 NM. The chart below shows the intended course.

Our Yacht

We will be sailing a new 2021 Fontaine Pajot, Elba 45 performance catamaran. She is a highly seaworthy model that performs very well in all sea and wind conditions.

Equipped with four queen cabins, each with a private bath, the Elba has a complete galley, is rigged for full sail including bow sprit for a code zero, has a large interior lounge with large exterior cockpit and both upper deck and foredeck lounge areas. Two cabins will be available for guests to join the voyage.

Our experienced Captains will give you the sail of a lifetime. Long distance, multi-day offshore sailing; teaching as we go sailing skills, yacht systems, and navigation.

Safety is our focus. We are not required to complete the sail by any specific date but we will sail to make good time and distance. Our captains monitor weather constantly and will not sail in dangerous conditions. If we need to stop due to weather; we will. Otherwise, we’ll sail all day and night with rotating helm ‘watches’ by the Captains.

We are looking for 2-4 adventurous sailors for each half or for the entire voyage. Some experience is preferable but we do not need highly experienced sailors – that’s why we have the Captains!

Preference will be given to those who want to sail at least half the voyage. If you are interested in a shorter sail, let us know and we’ll put you on our list. We’ll keep you informed and let you know if we move to shorter sailing segments.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for arrival at your segment’s starting point and travel from your end point. On board, you can help with the sailing as much as you like, learning additional sailing skills as we go. You will not need to take overnight watches but may join a Captain at the helm if you wish.

Sunrise over open sea

Flexibility with arrival and departure days is required. We will keep any guests joining an upcoming segment aware of progress during the passage but we cannot give exact days until near your date.

We’ll all pitch in to keep the yacht ‘ship-shape’. We all will help with keeping the yacht ship-shape and tasks like cooking. Your principal responsibility is to keep the water out of the boat and yourself in the boat.

Your Cost

All the sailing and safety equipment will be on board. We will discuss with you what to bring for sailing clothing for the expected weather at your segment(s) location.

We will let you know our provisioning for good meals during sailing. If you would like items beyond what we plan, you may bring them.
